1. Universal - a standard arm which includes brackets for installation in standard, top jamb and parallel applications

2. Hold open - a door closer arm with the capability of holding the door in the open position until it is manually closed. Hold-open arm door closers are not permitted for use on fire door assemblies.

3. Parallel - a door closer arm that mounts on the push side of the door and the arm assembly extends almost parallel to the door. In the closed position, there is very little, or no hardware projecting beyond the frame face in most situations. This may be beneficial in vandalism prone areas. Due to the geometry of the arm it may be about 25% less power-efficient than a regular arm application.

The Sargent 281 door closer is engineered to provide uncompromised strength and durability for high use commercial applications. It features a heat treated full rack and pinion that will ensure wear resistance and a one piece cast iron body with a very high endurance level. The 1/2" arm engagement over the 7/16" square spindle is specially designed to provide a wear resistant tight joint.
