The ASI 0185 Profile is a surface-mounted commercial hand dryer designed for facilities that want a dependable, straightforward unit with a clean white finish. The Profile name comes from the dryer's slim, low-profile form at just under 4 inches deep, the cabinet sits close to the wall and does not intrude into the restroom space.
The cover is a one-piece 16-gauge drawn steel shell with a white porcelain enamel finish. The porcelain enamel surface is hard, non-porous, and easy to wipe down, which makes it a practical choice for healthcare, food service, education, and any other environment where hygiene and regular cleaning are part of the daily routine. For facilities that prefer a metal look, the 0185-93 offers the same unit in satin stainless steel.
The universal voltage design is one of the more practical features on the 0185. Rather than ordering separate units for different voltage configurations, the dryer automatically adjusts to any supply voltage between 100 and 240 VAC at 50 or 60 Hz. That simplifies procurement for multi-site operators, international projects, and facilities that are not certain of the exact supply voltage during specification.
The motor is a 1/4 HP brush-type unit running at 7,500 RPM that drives a single-inlet centrifugal fan producing up to 185 CFM of airflow. Output air temperature reaches 149 degrees F at a 77-degree ambient room temperature, and the nichrome wire heating element is protected by an auto-reset circuit breaker. The infrared sensor activates automatically when hands are placed underneath, and a blue LED in the sensor array helps users find the most effective hand position. The dryer shuts off automatically when hands are removed or the timeout period ends.
Sound output runs at 65 dB-A minimum and 69.8 dB-A maximum at 2 meters, which is on the quieter side for a unit producing this level of airflow.
Installation is surface-mounted using four 1/4-inch screws with washers and bushings through rubber grommets into a corrosion-protected formed steel back plate. For masonry walls, expansion bolts or anchors for 1/4-inch screws are used instead. The cover is secured to the back plate using two hex socket security screws that are supplied with the unit. Electrical service of 115-240VAC at 20A is provided and connected by others prior to cover installation.
For
ADA and ICC/ANSI A-117.1 compliance, the bottom of the sensor lens should be installed at 48 inches maximum above finished floor when clear forward or side reach is available, 46 inches AFF for side reach over an obstruction deeper than 10 inches, or 44 inches AFF for forward reach over an obstruction deeper than 20 inches. For general utility, ASI recommends 44 to 50 inches above finished floor. When installing two or more dryers, they should be spaced no closer than 24 inches on center.
