Overview

The ASI 0600 is a surface-mounted framed mirror designed for commercial and institutional restrooms. The frame is roll-formed 18-gauge Type 304 alloy 18-8 stainless steel with mitered corners that are heliarc welded and polished to a uniform satin finish. Edges and corners are burr-free. The mirror hangs on a concealed 18-gauge bracket that locks onto the top and bottom of the frame using tamper-proof set screws, with a theft-resistant locking device securing the back plate to the frame.

The standard glazing is a quarter-inch plate glass mirror, silver coated and hermetically sealed with electrolytic copper plating, meeting Federal Spec DD-M411C, ASTM C-1503, and ASTM C-1036-91. It carries a 15-year warranty against silver spoilage. Five additional glazing options are available for specific project needs: tempered glass (B), stainless steel with a No. 8 mirror finish (C), Lexan polycarbonate (D), Plexiglas acrylic (E), and laminated glass (L). Plate glass delivers the best image quality; the alternative glazings are noted as fair to better and are non-returnable for distortion claims.

For ADA compliance, the bottom edge of the reflecting surface must be no higher than 40 inches above finished floor. Mounting uses number-10 self-threading screws through the concealed hanger bracket, with a maximum spacing of 18 inches between mounting points.

More Info

The 0600 Series falls under CSI MasterFormat Section 10 28 13 (Toilet Accessories) and qualifies for LEED credits under MR 4.1, MR 4.2, MR 6, EQ 4.1, EQ 4.2, and EQ 4.4. ASI publishes a dedicated glazing options reference document that covers image quality comparisons and material details for all six glazing types, which is worth referencing when specifying for projects where reflective quality or impact resistance is a factor.

American Specialties notes that as mirror size increases, the likelihood of distortion increases regardless of glazing type. Non-plate glass glazings are non-returnable on distortion claims, so plate glass is the recommended default for most commercial applications.
