More About Corbin Russwin

Since 1839, Corbin Russwin has been a leader in supplying high-quality commercial grade door hardware for residential, commercial and institutional use. QualifiedHardware.com is a stocking distributor of Corbin Russwin cylindrical and mortise locks, key blanks, exit devices, cylinders and door closers.

Corbin Russwin's story began when Henry Russell and Cornelius Erwin began manufacturing plate type locks in 1839. In March of 1844, Philip Corbin began working at the Matteson, Russell & Erwin Company (eventually renamed as the Russell & Erwin Co.). By 1849, Philip Corbin and his brother Frank teamed up with Ed Doen to form Doen, Corbin & Co., which by 1851 had become the P&F Corbin Company.

In 1902, the Russell & Erwin Company merged with P&F Corbin to form The American Hardware Corporation, which eventually included the Corbin Cabinet Lock Co. among other divisions. During both World Wars, the companies manufactured such items as gun parts and hand grenades to support the war efforts.

After a series of acquisitions, American Hardware was acquired by the Emhart Corporation in 1964. During both the American Hardware and Emhart years, the Corbin & Russwin brands were marketed independently of each other.

Later, Black and Decker purchased the company and combined the Corbin and Russwin brands to form Corbin Russwin.

Corbin Russwin, which now has its manufacturing facility in Berlin Connecticut, is one of 20 brands owned by ASSA ABLOY Door Security Solutions. ASSA ABLOY is the global leader in door opening solutions.

QualifiedHardware.com is proud to carry a broad selection of Corbin Russwin products. We offer an extensive inventory at competitive prices and free shipping within the Continental US for all Corbin Russwin locks, hardware and accessories.
