More Info

Following a number of serious fires in the early 1900’s, in which unfortunately many were crushed to death due to a lack of efficiency in opening the doors, the exit device was developed to prevent further loss of life. The exit device, also known as the panic bar, releases the latch upon being depressed. This mechanism provides for easy emergency exit even during a crush, since anyone leaning against the door will release it.
