This Von Duprin QEL99L is a rim exit device with a lever trim and motorized electric latch retraction. The QEL feature which is an alternative to manual dogging, allows for the remote unlatching of exit devices. A control station operator can easily an exit door to push pull operation by simply flipping a switch that will retract the latchbolt.

The outside of a single communicating door is the side from which the hinges are not visible when the door is closed.
The outside of a closet door is the room or hall side.

Doors equipped with exit devices swing out only, and therefore exit device handing is known as reverse bevel.

The door is Left Hand Reversed if:

• While you are standing outside of the room facing the door, the hinges are on your left side.

The door is Right Hand Reversed if:

• While you are standing outside of the room facing the door, the hinges are on your right side.

This exit device includes a special feature known as Quiet Electric retraction (QEL). This feature will enable you to unlatch the exit device from a remote, convenient location. You can simply flip a switch from the comfort of your desk to retract the bolt thereby making it possible to operate the door just by pushing or pulling it.
